How to Make Felt Christmas Tree Ornaments

As New Year’s approaches, preparations begin—and one of the most important traditions is decorating the Christmas tree. Everyone wants their tree to look bright, festive, and beautifully decorated. Decorating the tree with your family is already a lot of fun, but wouldn’t it be even more enjoyable to make the ornaments together as well? In this article, we’ll explain how to make Christmas tree ornaments using felt, step by step.

All of the Christmas tree ornaments you see above—and many more you can imagine—can be made using felt. Below, we explain how to make these ornaments easily by following simple steps. You can do this as a family activity, with friends, or even on your own. Since felt ornaments are very easy to make, the process is fun and doesn’t take much time.

What You Need to Make Felt Christmas Tree Ornaments

  • Felt in the colors of your choice
  • (Choose as many sheets as the number of ornaments you plan to make.)
  • Scissors or a craft knife for neat cutting
  • Glue or a hot glue gun
  • String or ribbon (in your preferred color) to hang the ornaments on the tree
  • A pen or marker that shows clearly on felt

Once you have gathered your materials, you can start making your felt ornaments.

Making felt ornaments is actually very simple. To create ornaments like the ones shown above, place the felt in front of you and draw your chosen ornament shape onto the felt using a pen. While drawing, don’t forget to include a small section where you’ll attach the string or ribbon.

After drawing the shape, carefully cut it out using scissors or a craft knife. Then, adjust the length of the ribbon or string you’ll use for hanging and attach it securely. Your ornament is now ready!

If you’re making double-layered or multi-layered felt ornaments, you can glue the layers together using regular glue or a hot glue gun.

Since felt Christmas tree ornaments are so easy to make, you can create many of them in a short amount of time. If you’re looking for a fun activity to do before the New Year arrives, making felt ornaments is a wonderful and enjoyable option for you and your loved ones.

With felt, you’re not limited to the designs mentioned here—you can create ornaments in any shape or style that matches your own taste. All you need to do is draw your design on the felt and cut it out carefully.

You can make lots of Christmas tree ornaments with your friends or family and decorate your tree exactly the way you like. You can even take custom orders from others and turn this fun activity into a small source of income if you wish
